Top Winner for the Premier’s Award
VG Meats of Simcoe has won one of the top five Agri-Food Innovation Excellence Awards at this year’s Premier’s Summit on Agri-Food held in Toronto.
The business was presented with the top Premier’s Award for innovation on Wednesday.
VG Meats had earlier been named one of the 50 regional award winners for 2015.
VG Meats Debuts in Canada
VG Meats is marketing Canada’s first tenderness-tested steaks.
Kevin Van Groningen says they started with 100 per cent sensory-panel tasting for steaks sold to Jacob’s Steak House and expanded April 30 to provide 100 per cent tenderness sampling for steaks sold through Longos 27 retail locations in the Toronto area.
Longo’s Partners With VG Farms
The Longo’s family has taken in a new member. The retailer has partnered with VG Farms to provide local beef to all Longo’s and Market stores.
This will complete Longo’s offering of Ontario-raised meat, which up until this point included chicken, turkey, pork, lamb and veal. Rosanne Longo, brand ambassador for Longo’s, said the Toronto-area grocery chain searched long and hard to find the right beef farm to work with.
