Your Canada Day long weekend starts at VG Meats

Have a Great Long Weekend, Everyone!

June 28, 2018

Canada Day is arguably one of the best holidays of the year. It’s summer, it’s our nation’s birthday, and everyone gathers together in celebration. Oh, and there’s ALWAYS an amazing backyard BBQ (or two or three). It’s basically Christmas, but without the sub-zero temperatures or the pressure to find gifts for everyone in your life. (Also, with more fireworks.)

If you’re the one hosting friends this weekend, be sure to check out our current specials and visit us in store soon. We will be closed Sunday and Monday but are open normal store hours Friday and Saturday.

How the VG family will be enjoying Canada Day – and how you can, too!

This Canada Day long weekend, the VG family will be enjoying a few local celebrations. Many of us will be at the annual Canada Day parade in Port Dover as well as Canada Day celebrations in Brantford. On Monday, the VG family will be getting together to enjoy a cookout on the farm complete with our own VG Meat products, local produce and our favourite local beers. Sounds like a recipe for a perfect weekend! If you’re cooking with VG Meats products on Canada Day, be sure to tag VG Meats in your posts on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. We’d love to see what you’re serving!

So, what have you got planned? Here are a few ideas to get you started.

Canada Day in Hamilton region

As always, there is plenty going on in Hamilton region this weekend. Host your own celebration or join in a community event complete with fireworks in the evening. You can celebrate Canada Day at Gage Park, Dundas Driving Park, Webster’s Fall or Lynden (near Ancaster). CBC posted a great round-up of events here – take a look and plan a fun weekend for the whole family!

Canada Day in Norfolk County

In addition to the parade in Port Dover at 2pm, you can also attend an evening concert from 7pm onward. It all takes place at Silver Lake (details here) and ends with a fireworks show at 10pm. There’s also Caledonia Canada Day at the fairgrounds in nearby Caledonia (Haldimand County). Whatever you end up doing, have fun and stay safe.

Happy birthday, Canada, and happy long weekend to the rest of us!
