Life on the VG Family Farm
Our Business and Our Home!

VG Meats is a true working farm in Simcoe that has been in the Van Groningen family for four generations. Most of our customers are familiar with our retail locations in Simcoe and Stoney Creek, but fewer people get to see the actual farm in action. To help customers get a sense of what life is like on the VG family farm, we’ve asked brother Cory to do some filming as he goes about his day. Here are two of his first videos, which we shared on Facebook last week. We hope you enjoy this peek into our business and our home!
Blue skies, fresh grass & happy chickens
Ever wonder where our pasture-raised chicken spends their days? On lush, green grass at the VG farm. Our chicken shelters keep our chickens safe from coyotes and other predators and can be easily moved by hand. We reposition the shelters every day, ensuring that the chickens are always on fresh, comfortable green grass and clover. This isn’t just nice for the chickens – it’s nice for the environment, since we avoid unnecessary daily use of diesel-fueled farm equipment for this task.
Watch our cows roam the grassy fields
There’s nothing like seeing a herd of cattle running joyfully through an open field. Our cows wander freely through acres of beautiful natural landscape with plenty of food and water. We treat them well so they can just be cows – and really, isn’t that how it should be? See for yourself – it’ll put a smile on your face.
