In your home, your grocery store and your favourite restaurants – get to know another side of VG Meats

If you’ve shopped at VG Meats for a while, you know that we’re not your typical retail business. Sure, we have great food, an awesome online shop and excellent customer service – all the things you look for in a retail store – but the truth is, VG Meats is a lot more than that. We’re a fourth generation family farm, sustainable farming advocates, champions of local food and active members of the community. We love what we do, and our stores and the products we carry embody that. But did you know there’s a whole other line of business behind the scenes?
VG Meats supplies local beef, poultry and pork products to a variety of restaurants, grocery stores and other food service institutions across Ontario. Here’s why this matters, and how we’re getting our food to more Canadians.
A natural extension of our business
Our farm and retail business truly are the heart of what we do, and our supply retail business is a great extension of that. By offering wholesale products to great partners, we’re able to increase our reach while providing something valuable and in-demand. Our team prepares steak, poultry and pork cuts to grocers, creates custom grinds for restaurants, pre-portions meat for food service kitchens, offers custom cuts and aged products and more. It’s everything we do for customers in our Stoney Creek and Simcoe stores, but on a bigger scale. And naturally, our wholesale customers receive the same great quality product and exceptional service as our in-store retail customers do!
Getting local meat to more tables
We’ve talked about some of the great restaurants we supply meat to, including Jacob’s Steakhouse in Toronto as well as David’s Restaurant and The Combine here in Norfolk County. We’ve also highlighted some of our excellent grocery partners, like Farm Boy, Metro and Goodness Me. What you might not know is that we also supply meat to the University of Toronto, the University of Guelph and other academic facility cafeterias. We also work with great charitable partners such as Feed Ontario (previously Ontario Association of Food Banks) and Real Food for Real Kids.
As we continue to grow these channels, we’re able to get our delicious, local meat on more tables. This makes us happy, and it’s also good for our customers and our retail partners. Our farming expertise allows us to create an amazing product that customers know and love. Our retail experience helps us provide a very high level of service on the wholesale side because we know what businesses need and want. It’s a match made in heaven, and we’re pleased to continue developing this side of our family business.
