How we do it: regenerative farming at VG Meats

Last week, we introduced our customers to something the VG brothers are passionate about – regenerative farming. This practice is forward-thinking, sustainable and supports a healthy, biodiverse environment with rich soil and clean freshwater. It also allows us to produce incredible food while working towards a better future for our children and the earth.
Today, we want to show everyone that we don’t just talk the talk – we walk the walk! Here are some videos that help illustrate our dedication to regenerative farming.
Fresh grass, healthy land
Our cattle are continually moved to lush, fresh grass on the farm. They enjoy open air and wonderful outdoor spaces where they can roam. Not only is this rotation good for the cattle, it’s good for the land. Learn more by watching the video here.
Chickens and cattle working together
In this next video, Cory VG explains why our chickens and cattle often live in the same pastures. If you remember the word “symbiosis” from science class, you’re going to love this clip. Spoiler: it involves a lot of nutrient-rich manure. Please click to watch the video!
Implementing carbon reduction methods
When we create specific environments on the farm, we help sequester carbon and reduce harmful emissions. The cattle get their green grass and open spaces, we get clean air to enjoy and you get a high quality product with minimal carbon footprint. This method is something we learned from Allan Savory and continue to study. If you’re interested in learning more, please watch the video here!
Keep an eye on our blog for more posts on regenerative agriculture – we’ll be sharing a few more in the weeks to come. Thanks for reading, and please remember to visit vgfarmtocity.ca or one of our retail locations for all your local shopping needs!
