3 Takeout Favourites for Less
Treat Yourself

We all crave a cheeseburger from time to time (or all the time) but going through the drive-thru on a regular basis isn’t easy on your wallet (or your stomach). There’s a better way! At VG Meats, we offer local, high quality products that are ethically raised in lush, open fields. Our meat has no added hormones or antibiotics, and it’s delicious. Like, really delicious. Just ask any of our customers!
The next time you’re passing a fast food place and are tempted to grab dinner, remember this – with a little planning, you can eat better for less with VG. Here are a few examples:
Burger and Fries (to feed one person)
Takeout: $12 (approximately)
VG: $5 or less
How: A box of forty 4oz beef patties is available at the VG Meats retail store for $39.99 (yes, that’s about a dollar per burger). You can cook up some homemade fries or use your favourite frozen brand – neither will cost you more than a couple of dollars. Now, just add some lettuce and condiments from your fridge and enjoy. You have a better burger for less than half the price – and 39 more ready to go in the freezer!
Roast Chicken Meal
Takeout: $15 or more per person
VG: $7 or less per serving
How: A chicken dinner from a takeout restaurant can cost you $15 or more, but a seasoned, flattened chicken from VG Meats costs approximately $20 ($4.99 per lb/average 3-5 lbs per chicken) and serves a whole family. Just add your favourite veggies and mashed potatoes on the side. It’s homemade, delicious, and won’t break the bank! Plus, it’s nice to know that your chicken was raised in a pasture on our family farm. (Does anyone really know where their fast food chicken comes from?)
Pork Rib Dinner
Takeout: $20 or more
VG: $15 or less
How: Popular chain restaurants sell a rack of rib dinner for around $20, but you can buy a large, tender rack of ribs with amazing flavour for $8.99/lbs at VG Meats. A full rack is often around 1.5 lbs, and is of much higher quality than you’ll find at a takeout place. Serve our delicious ribs with corn on the cob and your favourite type of potatoes for a fantastic meal under $15. It’s indulgent and will blow any takeout ribs out of the water – trust us!
